Coach Buddy Stephens' East Mississippi Community College football team has yet to really be challenged this season.
The Lions have outscored their opponents 589-33 on their way to a 9-0 record and earning the No. 1 seed out of the MACJC North Division, which is their third in a row.
The No. 2 Lions put all that on the line Saturday when they host the No. 5 Mississippi gulf Coast Community College Bulldogs in Scooba at 2 p.m. in a MACJC semifinal game.
"Gulf Coast is definitely the best team we've played so far," Stephens said. "I think our guys are excited about that challenge. It's going to be a typical East Mississippi-Gulf Coast game. It's going to be two good football teams playing for the same thing."
With a win, the Lions move on to the championship game and will play either No. 4 Jones Junior College or Itawamba Community College.Â
The Bulldogs enter the game at 8-1 with the only loss coming to Jones County Junior College, when Gulf Coast was the top-ranked team in the country.
