It has been a long journey for Trevor Fitts and his beard.
The Mississippi State junior right hander strokes his beard these days as he watches fall practice.
The Helena, Ala., native made a Power Point last December on the advantages of baseball players having beards. He presented it to head coach John Cohen.
Cohen has never really allowed facial hair for his players, but Fitts was able to convince him otherwise.
His beard has taken off.
"I actually haven't shaved since we lost to Ole Miss way back," Fitts said. "It's been going on for a long time."
