SHS swimmers seek good outing at State

October 25, 2013

The Starkville High School swim team did not perform as well at the Class 6A North State meet as it wanted.
In a sport of a second chance, the Yellowjackets seek to have a better outing at today's Class 6A State meet in Cleveland. The prelims begin at 9 a.m. on the campus of Delta State University.
"We had some good swims at North State, but our relays did not place quite as high as I was expecting," SHS swim coach Angela Hobart said. "We didn't have any winning relays. We had a couple of seconds and a couple of thirds.
"Mainly, the girls 200 freestyle relay that won last year had a good swim and all had good splits, but still came in third. Madison Central out-touched us with a 146-flat and we had a 146-6. My girls from last year are the record holders at the State meet so we're looking to defend that title. I'm hoping after a week of preparing they are going to move back up there."
