SMITH COLUMN: Points, yards are increasing at every level

October 23, 2013

There are just not very many football teams out there playing very much defense anymore at any level.
Think about it. Doesn't it seem less and less likely these days to see shutouts in high school, junior college and college?
More and more offenses are putting up video game-like numbers in points and total yards.
It's not surprising to see squads scoring 50, 60 and 70 points in a game.
Just a few weeks ago, East Mississippi Community College scored 90 points, which tied a record, against Coahoma Community College.
The Lions have continued to roll on offense and in their latest victory had 79 points against Northwest.
