BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Mississippi State was picked to finish 13th in the Southeastern Conference this season by the media.
Florida center Patric Young isn't buying into that. The senior had a bold statement on the Bulldogs.
"I wouldn't be surprised if Mississippi State was a lot better this year," Young told reporters at SEC media days on Thursday. "They have a lot of good young guys."
MSU struggled last year in coach Rick Ray's first season, but it prided themselves on playing harder than the other team.Â
The Bulldogs played the Gators twice last season. They lost both times, but Young took notice.
MSU sophomore forward and former Starkville High School standout Gavin Ware acknowledged at how the team played last season and can see how people believe they might be better than expected."
"(We) just keep playing, (and) just grinding out every day last year," Ware said. "We just have to keep grinding. When we get down, we just have to keep playing. I believe that's what we did and I believe that's going to carry on into this year."
