Pink fire trucks from the National Pink Heals Tour will be at Starkville Fire Department Station No. 1 on Saturday for the department's Pink Heals 5K and Fun Run. Proceeds from the event will go to the Patient Assistance Fund, a service provided by the Center for Breast Health Imaging to help uninsured or underinsured women pay for treatments and mammograms. Starkville Fire Department's Fire Station No. 1 will be covered in pink as the station celebrates breast cancer survivors with its Pink Heals 5K and Fun Run on Saturday.
Firemen will be in pink shirts, and spectators and participants are also asked to wear pink to the event. The station will also have three pink firetrucks from the National Pink Heals Tour. The organization began in 2007 to bring awareness to breast cancer and survivors, and this is the third time the tour is stopping in Starkville.
