Time to end playground politics

Well, it finally happened: The Congress that called “Wolf!” finally saw a wolf.
For the last four-plus years, it seems we’ve heard the phrase “government shutdown” at just about every turn. Invariably, some gas-bag from one side of the aisle will start pointing fingers at the other side of the aisle — be it related to money, idealism or who gets control of the monkey bars and bigger swing set on the playground — and by the time is all said and done, the blue slide gang will stick their tongues out at the red slide gang, who will get their feelings hurt and threaten to take their toys and just go home. I suppose someone finally did, because when I awoke Tuesday morning fully expecting to see an 11th-hour reconciliation only to discover that the looming “government shutdown” had actually taken place, I really didn’t quite know what to think.
