It started out as a small group of people meeting in a living room. Now, the Starkville-Mississippi State University Symphony Orchestra is set to begin its 45th season on Saturday in Columbus.
The growth of the orchestra stems from community support, as well as a change within the orchestra itself. Michael Brown, the music director and conductor for the symphony, said one of the factors was the symphony becoming a professional orchestra rather than a community orchestra.
