Lady Vols see softball season come to an end

September 23, 2013

COLUMBUS – The Starkville Academy Lady Volunteers showed their potential against Heritage Academy in the first inning and a half at the Propst Park softball complex Monday afternoon.
Starkville Academy used five hits to take a 4-0 lead and looked to be control in a loser's bracket game of the North AAA Tournament.
Heritage stormed back in a big way with nine runs in the second inning to gain the advantage, then went on to score four more times in the third and once in the fourth to take a 15-4 win.
The Lady Vols showed a spark early that coach Kayla Mosley has been seeing at times late in the inning and something she would like for them to build on.
"We've had some innings late this season that are innings that real good teams have," Mosley said. "If we can find a way to keep working this offseason and be able to put those together every inning instead of just one every now and then, we should be better. Our last five games, we've had a good inning like that. It's got to be consistent."
