SMITH COLUMN: Trick play gives boost to Bulldogs

September 22, 2013

SMITH

A successful trick play can certainly change the momentum of a football game.
The Mississippi State Bulldogs found that to be true on Saturday night.
At the beginning of the second quarter of Saturday's 62-7 victory over the Troy Trojans, the Bulldogs benefitted from one of those plays at Davis Wade Stadium.
MSU quarterback Dak Prescott tossed the football behind the line of scrimmage to Jameon Lewis, who threw it back to Prescott for a 36-yard touchdown.
That enabled the Bulldogs to take a 17-7 lead against the Trojans and really seemed to spark something in the offense.
