Starkville Academy drops 2-1 decision

August 22, 2013

Soccer is all about a game of space and what each team does with that space.
On Thursday afternoon at the Starkville Sportsplex, Jackson Academy did enough with its opportunities to claim a 2-1 victory against the Starkville Academy Lady Volunteers.
Jackson Academy scored the game-winning goal over the out-stretched arm of SA goal keeper Anna McKell just moments before the final whistle sounded.
"Those goals make our keeper look bad, but it's not her fault," Lady Vols coach Cole Andrews said. "We're still struggling to do what we need to do defensively. It's not Anna McKell's fault, but just unlucky because we're giving them too much space. They are attacking third and giving them an opportunity to take those shots. She did all she could do both times, unlucky for us, but we still need to work on some things defensively."
