Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning is launching a new Teacher Education Scholars Program (TESP) that will award full scholarships to high-performing incoming college freshmen who pursue teaching careers.
TESP provides $15,000 per year, covering tuition, room, board and books for each recipient, who must agree to teach in a Mississippi public school district for at least five years. IHL Director of Communications Caron Blanton said TESP was part of Gov. Phil Bryantâ€™s Education Works initiative, which passed during the last legislative session.
