$5 million bond resolution approved

August 7, 2013

Despite a heated warning from Ward 6 Alderman Roy Perkins that the city could be setting itself up for a potential tax increase, Starkville’s Board of Aldermen passed a resolution setting aside $5 million in general obligation bonds for industrial development.

The measure passed in a 4-2 vote, with only Perkins and Ward 7 Alderman Henry Vaughn opposed. Ward 1 Alderman Ben Carver was absent.
