Local sentenced for sexual battery

Alexander Brooks, 19, of Oktibbeha County, received a 20-year sentence in the Mississippi Department of Corrections with 10 years suspended and a $631 fine after he pleaded guilty recently in Oktibbeha County Circuit Court to sexual battery.

Starkville Police Department arrested Brooks in June 2012 after he engaged in intercourse with a 14-year-old victim. According to court documents, the victim was infected with herpes as a result of the incident.
