Young Bulldogs getting their reps

August 2, 2013

With the inexperience at the wide receiver position this season at Mississippi State, it will cause quarterback Tyler Russell (17) to possible look to throw more to players like junior Robert Johnson (81) this season. (Photo by Kim Murrell, For Starkville Daily News)

Mississippi State football coach Dan Mullen has harped on how young his football team is with just 10 seniors on the rosters.
That may give some young guys an opportunity to step up and get a decent amount of playing time this season.
Although it's too early (the Bulldogs still haven't put pads on) to point out which young guys will see playing time, they are in the process of teaching the young guys and seeing how they respond to new stuff.
Friday marked the first day of split-squad practices. The starters and many freshman worked together in the morning session.
