Police hit snag on hostage call

August 1, 2013

Starkville Police Chief David Lindley released more information Wednesday about a June crank call in hopes of reigniting an investigation that has gone cold.

Just after 8 a.m. June 28, Lindley said someone using a voice modifier and the name “Night Runner” called 911 and claimed to have three hostages at a Lindbergh Boulevard residence. The suspect went on to claim the hostages were drugged and lying unconscious in a closet, Lindley said, and if officers didn’t meet certain demands in a certain timeframe, the hostages would die.
