MSU linebacker makes rare appearance as sophomore
HOOVER, Ala. – When teams come to the Southeastern Conference Media days, it brings along some of their most talented players.
Usually that means upperclassmen that represent multiple years of experience, but on Wednesday, Texas A&M and Mississippi State bucked that trend as among their roster of attendees were sophomores Johnny Manziel and Benardrick McKinney.
While it might be rare to see players so young as representatives of their universities, it is no shocker to see these two individuals as one is a Heisman Trophy winner and the other finds himself on the 2013 Butkus Award collegiate watch list.
“Benardrick is a guy that earned all freshman honors for us, really bought into our program and really developed from where he was,” MSU coach Dan Mullen said of McKinney.
