In May 2012, Caleb Rich caught a cold that would change his life forever.
It started as a slight cough accompanied by a nighttime fever, but the coughing worsened and soon the fever would not abate. Then 31-year-old Rich visited the doctor and began a round of antibiotics, but after 10 days, when his fever shot up to 103.5, his wife Melissa knew something else was wrong. After traditional means of acetaminophen and Ibuprofen failed to bring the fever down, she was sure of it.
