Starkville 7's devoting time to learn game

July 3, 2013

Brent DeWeese, the coach of the Starkville 7-year-old Dizzy Dean All-Stars, has been spending the majority of his time over the last week teaching the art of the game of baseball to his team.
The former player for Starkville High School and Mississippi State has gained knowledge of the sport over the years and looks to pass on those lessons to his young squad.
Starkville's 7-year-olds begin State tournament play at 1 p.m. on Friday against the winner of Greenwood and Ackerman at Columbus.
"Knowing where to go as far as on defense and base running are things we've been working on for three weeks," DeWeese said. "It's a learning process."
