OMAHA, Neb. – Jamie Mitchell has been a Mississippi State baseball fan for most of his life.
The Starkville High School football head coach has been to the College World Series once before this year's event, but the Bulldogs were not participating.
This year, Mitchell is getting to experience the thrill of seeing his team play in the event.
"This is a first for me," Mitchell said. "I wouldn't trade it for anything. You just don't get these opportunities very often. You don't ever know when they'll be back, hopefully next year."
The fourth-year Yellowjacket head coach came with four of his good friends. Mitchell, R.J. Morgan, Justin Moss, Greg Miller and Russ Stigall decided after the Bulldogs beat the Virginia Cavaliers last weekend in the Charlottesville Super Regional that they were going to make the trip.
