CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Mississippi State was six outs away from the College World Series, but rain forced the Bulldogs to wait another day to record the last few outs.
The No. 12 (Collegiate Baseball) Bulldogs came back Monday afternoon after rain suspended game two of the Charlottesville Super Regional to beat the No. 6 Virginia Cavaliers 6-5 at Davenport Field to advance to Omaha, Neb.
"Virginia's an outstanding club," MSU head coach John Cohen said. "They're a really good club. They have phenomenal at-bats, they're a young club and they have really, young talented pitching. They are very, very well-coached."
