James Bland

Mr. James Thomas Bland, 87, of Maben, MS; passed away at his residence.

He was a veteran of World War II, a guard at the Nuremberg Trials, a Postmaster for Cumberland, and a Rural Mail carrier for Maben.  He also loved to bow hunt.

Thomas is survived by his son, Danny Thomas Bland (Peta) of Missouri; sister, Evelyn Salyers of Huntsville, Alabama; brothers, Travis Bland of Starkville, Mississippi and Donald Bland of Fayetteville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Niesha Lee (Art), Molly Golian (Keith) and Kasey Bland; great grandchildren, Hunter, Hailey, Thomas and Meredith.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Eva Carroll Bland; parents, Thomas Calvin Bland and Thelma Merideth Bland; a brother, Garvis Bland. 

Visitation for Mr. Bland will be held at Welch Funeral Home in Maben on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Cumberland Baptist Church on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 10 a.m. conducted by Rev. Randle Poss and Rev. Chase Owen. Burial will follow in Maben Memorial Gardens.
