Summer reading brings guests, prizes to library

June 4, 2013

This summer, the staff at Starkville Public Library (SPL) have lined the path to better reading with prizes.

Ginny Holtcamp, library director, said everyone who registered for the library’s summer reading program received a Reading Record. Reading five books lets a child come to the library to pick out one small prize. Reading 10 lets them select a food coupon. Reading 15 lets them select a book from the children’s librarian. From there, she said, the process would repeat until readers finished 50 books, and those who reached this milestone would have their names drawn from the Gigantic Prize Jar.
