Affidavits focus of poll training

May 29, 2013

Starkville’s poll worker’s met at City Hall on Tuesday afternoon to prepare for the approaching general election on June 4.

The meeting’s leaders made knowing how to help voters fill out their ballots correctly a heavy emphasis at Tuesday’s meeting, which came in the wake of two hotly-contested alderman races in the May 4 primary election. The Ward 2 race between Sandra Sistrunk and Lisa Wynn, where 11 affidavit ballots were discarded, garnered the most attention early on. More recently, John Gaskin, who lost to Jason Walker in the contest to represent Ward 4, has challenged the entire democratic primary and is seeking another during the June 4 general election.
