Winning a State championship is no easy task, especially in your first year with a new school.
East Webster coach Lee Berryhill was able to do just that as he took the Lady Wolverines all the way to the Class 2A state championship.
“Everybody plays for state championships and you want to be the best in the end,” Berryhill said. “Moving here as a first-year coach, I am just proud of my girls. They all worked for a common goal and just got better each day and just took it one day at a time. They carried it over to the end and to a Class 2A State championship.”
Berryhill was recognized as Starkville Daily News High School Fast Pitch Coach of the Year for that accomplishment.
