George Self

George M. Self, 75, of Starkville, passed away on May 7, 2013 at University Medical Center in Jackson.  He was a very hard working man and a friend to everyone he met. His love of hunting, fishing and the outdoors was only surpassed by his love for God and his family. He was retired owner of La Vertical Blinds in Kissimmee, FL.  George was a member of City of Life Church in Kissimmee, FL, but had been attending Meadowview Baptist Church in Starkville, MS. 

Mr. Self was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Edna Self; brothers, Dan and Ellis Self; and one infant son. 

He is survived by sons, Jeff Self of Starkville, Justin Hadley and Chris Hamlin, both of Kissimmee, FL; daughters, Alicia Massey and Melinda Hadley, both of Kissimmee, FL; granddaughter, Morgan Self of Jackson, MS; brothers, Joe (Catherine) Self of Jackson, MS, Wallace Self of Pearl, MS, Allen (Sue) Self of Starkville, MS, Arthur Self of Clinton, MS; sisters, Jean Gibson of Brandon, MS, Kay (Paul) Johnson of Sweet Water, TN, and Katherine (Tom) Rice of Fredericksburg, VA. 

Visitation for Mr. Self is scheduled for Thursday, May 9, 2013 from 12:30-2:00 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS, with the funeral service immediately following  in the funeral home chapel.  Pastor Dickey Bryan will conduct the service.  Burial will be in Memorial Garden Park Cemetery.
