Mrs. Catherine Swayze Harris, 83, died Friday, March 1, 2013 at The Carrington Nursing Center in Starkville.Â
Graveside services will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2013 in Memorial Garden Park Cemetery in Starkville with Rev. Dr. Prentiss Gordon officiating.
Visitation will be held 1-2 p.m. Sunday, March, 3, 2013 at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville.
Welch Funeral Home of Starkville is in charge of arrangements.
She was a retired teacher at Starkville Academy and a member of First United Methodist Church, where she was in Circle Mary. She loved Mississippi State Athletics and was an avid bridge player. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.Â
She is survived by her daughters, Catherine Ann Harris of Starkville and Janet Harris Wasson (Thomas Jr.) of Raymond; sons, Yandell Swayze Harris (Cindy) of Columbus and Ralph Neal Harris Jr. (Brenda) of Starkville; sister, Georgia Smith of Brandon; grandchildren, Matthew Thomas Wasson, Swayze Lynn Harris and Catherine Bailey Harris; and great-grandchild, Andrew Thomas Wasson.Â
Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Yandell Swayze and Catherine Butler Swayze; and her husband, Ralph Neal Harris Sr.Â
The family would like to thank the staff of OCH Regional Medical Center, the staff of The Carrington Nursing Center and the staff of Montgomery Gardens for their loving care.Â
