Mrs. Ruby Jean Kemp formerly of Sturgis, 85, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013 at her residence in Pearl.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville with Rev. Grady Bailey Jr. officiating.

Burial will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation was held 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013 at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville.

Nowell-Massey Funeral Home of Louisville is in charge of arrangements.

Born on April 27, 1927, Jean was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Jackson, and she retired after working in the Diagnostic Lab for the United States Department of Agriculture.

Mrs. Kemp is survived by her husband, Lamar Kemp of Pearl; her sisters, Ruth Dean Singleton of Starkville, Mary Tallent Chaffin and Kathrine Peterson Thomas, both of Sturgis; her sisters-in-law, Dot Dawkins of Starkville, Faye Shook of Sturgis and Mary Ruby Moplus of Forest; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Virginia Kemp; her parents, William Henry and Mary I Deva Froshour Dawkins; and three brothers, Donald Hugh Dawkins, Frank Dawkins and Fred Dawkins.

Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Singleton, Brad Singleton, Sammy Dawkins, John Wixson, Kirby Wixson, Bubba Wixson and Gary Martin.
