PHILADELPHIA – Blair Schaefer had another scoring effort over 30 points as the Starkville Lady Yellowjackets defeated the Neshoba Central Rockets 57-42 in Class 5A, Region 2 action Tuesday night.
Schaefer tallied 36 points for the Lady Jackets, who improved to 12-6 overall and 4-1 in Class 5A, Region 2.
Starkville jumped out to a 17-15 lead after the first quarter, but held Neshoba Central to seven points in the second quarter and scored 16 to secure a 33-22 advantage at halftime.
The Lady Jackets also had another good third quarter by outscoring the Rockets 19-11.
Following Schaefer in the scoring department for SHS was Imane Montgomery with eight points.
The final two regular season home games for the Lady Jackets and Jackets will take place Friday and Saturday. Starkville hosts Noxubee County on Friday and Canton on Saturday.

PHILADELPHIA – The Jackets followed up the girls success with some of their own in the region.
The two teams were tied at 17-17 after the first quarter and 33-33 at halftime, but Starkville outscored Neshoba Central 7-0 in the third quarter to take a 55-48 lead.
There were four Jackets to score in double figures as Avonte Amos and Raphael Leonard led the way with 14 points each. Richard Evans scored 13 points and Caleb Wilson contributed 12 points.
Starkville improved its records to 6-13 overall and 2-3 in the region.
