Starkville Community Theatre is asking for the public’s help in contributing stage props for an upcoming show.

SCT announced on Wednesday that they are seeing period looking piece of luggage for its production of “The Heiress,” which is set is the 1850s.

The theater company is seeking four to five pieces of vintage luggage, including small traveling bags and hand luggage, but could also be tapestry, wicker or carpet.

“Think old. We also need a glass pitcher that looks period, and several larger embroidery frames,” SCT said on Facebook. “We have some that are 8 inches, but they are too small - so something larger. A standing frame would be great, but hand-held will also work. Please let us know if you have any pieces you think will do.”

The production, originally written by Augustus and Ruth Goetz, takes place in New York in the 1850s and is “a costume drama about a young woman in the Victorian Age finding her voice and challenging the strictures placed on her life by society and by her domineering father.”

The cast includes: DeeDee Baldwin, Aimee Bordelon, Allyn Hackman, Elaine Trinkle, Shannon Voges-Haupt, Danny Ward, and Caroline Fitzwater.

Reservations opened Friday for general admission seating. Ticket costs for this production will be $15 for general admission, and $10 for students.

Barbara Coats of Modern Woodmen of America is the sponsor of “The Heiress,” with all shows in the 2018-2019 season funded in part by grants from the Mississippi Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts.

The show will debut on Jan. 31 and will also run from Feb. 1-3 and Feb. 5-9.
