Eagles take off early to get 41-14 victory

It was a fast start for the Eupora Eagles and they didn't let up during Friday's home game against West Tallahatchie.

Tra McComb returned the opening kickoff 82 yards for a touchdown and the Eagles went on to a 41-14 victory.

With the victory, Eupora improved to 3-1 and host Choctaw County next week.

After McComb's kickoff return for points to start the game, Camron Culpepper brought a punt back to the 1-yard line to set up Abraham Hodges's scoring run with 9:19 remaining in the first quarter.

The Eagles increased their lead to 21-0 with 10:51 left in the second quarter on a 9-yard touchdown run by Preston Perkins and quarterback Edwin Herard, the OCH Athlete of the Week, scored on a two-point conversion run.

Also in the second quarter, Herard had a pair of touchdown with the first being a 2-yarder to Culpepper at the 4:24 mark and the other a 20-yard strike to McComb with 1:41 on the clock.
Eupora led at the half 34-0.

West Tallahatchie scored a pair of touchdowns in third quarter to cut the margin to 34-14, but the Eagles got one more score before the end of the game when Travon McMillian had a 26-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

French Camp 34, Vardaman 6

FRENCH CAMP – Quarterback Holman Edwards scored three touchdowns as the Panthers bounced back from two-straight losses.

French Camp (2-2) will have an open date before hosting its third-straight game against Nanih Waiya on Sept. 21.

Calhoun Academy 42, Hebron Christian 12

CALHOUN CITY – It may have been the fourth loss of the season for the Eagles, but they scored the most points they've had in a game this season.

Doug Loden had his part in both touchdowns as he had a kickoff return for a score and caught a 78-yard pass for points from quarterback Braiden Triplett.
