More details have emerged regarding the arrest of Mississippi State baseball freshman catcher Luke Hancock.

The Starkville Daily News learned more about the arrest on Tuesday after obtaining public records from the Starkville Municipal Court.

According to the document, Hancock was arrested on Sunday and accused with “unlawfully, willfully, purposely and knowingly” committing an act of domestic violence.

The complaint alleges Hancock grabbed a female victim with his hands, pushed her from behind and struck her on the back of the head. The relationship of the victim to Hancock was redacted. The incident occurred on University Drive and Hancock was arrested by the Starkville Police Department.

The SDN reported on Monday that Hancock had been arrested for domestic violence and that he later bonded out.

MSU issued a statement on Hancock’s arrest Monday in which the school announced Hancock was suspended from the baseball team.

“We are aware of the incident involving Luke Hancock,” the statement read. “He is suspended indefinitely as we continue to gather more information.”

Hancock played his prep career at Houston High School where he was an All-State performer. He signed on with Mississippi State last November after being verbally committed to the Bulldogs since 2014.
