Watch: Second suspect in apartment shooting appears in court

On Monday, 19-year-old Tyler Smith, who was arrested last Friday on a felony warrant, had an initial appearance in Starkville Municipal Court, where he was represented by attorney Austin Vollor. 

Municipal Court Judge Rodney Faver set the date for a preliminary hearing for Smith on Sept. 13, at 2 p.m. He is currently in the Oktibbeha County Jail with bond set at $250,000.

According to the affidavit from the arrest, which was provided to the Starkville Daily News through a public records request, Smith is accused of attempting to kill the victim, Bobby Spratt, Jr., by shooting him in the head and back multiple times on the night of Aug. 16. at The Block Townhomes on South Montgomery Street.
