Police say a man shot at a Starkville apartment complex late Thursday night is in stable condition.

SPD Public Information Officer Brandon Lovelady declined to identify the victim, but did confirm the status after the victim was airlifted to University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson with gunshot wounds.

As of press deadline on Sunday, no arrests had been made in the case.

Investigators are actively looking for suspects and are encouraging any witnesses to come forward who may have knowledge of the shooting.

A heavy police presence made up of investigators from the Starkville Police Department and Oktibbeha County Sheriff's Department were on scene at The Block Townhomes in the 600 block of South Montgomery Street on Thursday night after officers responded to a report of a shooting around 10:20 p.m.

At the scene, the east end of the complex off of South Montgomery Street was cordoned off and investigators could be seen bringing out evidence from inside a single apartment unit. Additionally, several cars were also roped off and included in the investigation.
