The final Downtown at Sundown summer concert will feature Brent Varner and Jake Slinkard on Aug. 19 at Fire Station Park.

The free concert will begin at 7 p.m. and last until 9 p.m.

Downtown at Sundown is a free summer concert series hosted by the Greater Starkville Development Partnership.

Partnership Special Events and Projects Coordinator Paige Watson said Varner and Slinkard offer a great set of acoustic rock.

Food vendors during August’s Downtown at Sundown will include Bin 612, 929 Coffee Bar, Chik-fil-A, Moe’s Original BBQ and The Pop Porium.

Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs. Coolers are not allowed.

Watson said the inaugural year of the Downtown at Sundown concert series was a success.

“I think the whole series went phenomenal this year, and especially as the summer went further crowds have gotten larger,” Watson said. “We definitely plan to do it again bigger and better next year.”

Previous performers in the concert series included local band HanaLena, Motown group The Flames, singer/ songwriter Drew Dieckmann and singers from Starkville Community Theatre.
