Lee Carlisle, the owner of Army Navy Pawn and Gun, is the recipient of a Mississippi Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Patriot Award.

ESGR Volunteer Jimmy Vaughan said the Patriot Award is given to employers to show appreciation of their support to the service members they employ.

“The soldiers who work for them nominate them for their exceptional support,” Vaughan said. Carlisle was nominated by Spc 4 Steven Garcia, an employee of the Army Navy Pawn and Gun and student at Mississippi State University. Garcia serves with the B Co. 1-155 CAB in Poplarville and is currently deployed with the Mississippi Army National Guard 155 BCT in Kuwait.

Garcia said in his nomination of Lee for the award that Lee goes above and beyond in his support of Garcia in his service of his country and as a student at MSU.

“I’m very flattered and honored to receive the award,” Lee said.

Lee said he is also very appreciative to be nominated.

“I try to do a lot for law enforcement officers, EMTs and the military,” Lee said. “I’m an avid supporter of them.”

Vaughan said service members are encouraged to go online at esgr.mil and nominate an employer for the award. Individuals who have an interest in becoming a volunteer for ESGR and supporting men and women in uniform and their employers are encouraged to contact Leanne Hall at the Mississippi ESGR office at (601) 313-6505.
