Bulldogs in Omaha: Where to watch in Starkville

The Mississippi State University Bulldogs baseball team will take on the University of Washington Huskies at 7 p.m. Saturday during the College World Series in Omaha.

As the Bulldogs take the national stage, numerous restaurants and bars throughout Starkville are hosting watch parties to celebrate the occasion.

The game will be televised on ESPN.

Central Station Grill general manager Terry Crews said the eatery will feature banana-themed drinks and food specials, and the game will be played on all 14 televisions and through the speaker system.

“It will be just like you’re at the game but with air conditioning,” Crews said.

Rick’s Cafe will feature $5 hamburgers from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday and $1 Bud Light draft during the game with no cover charge.

The Veranda will be showing the game on their flat screen televisions in the bar with surround sound, and will be serving $3 flavored vodka and Captain Morgan and $2 domestic longnecks.

Eat Local Starkville owner Brian Kelley said Bin 612, The Guest Room, Restaurant Tyler and City Bagel will all have specials for the game. Kelley said The Guest Room will have mole hot wings made of pepper brined, chicken wings tossed in mole poblano and served with cotija cheese, charred sweet corn, buttermilk crema, onion and cilantro that cost $10 for five wings. The restaurant will also feature The Rally Melt for the game, made of Homemade Pastures ground beef smothered in pimento cheese on toasted sourdough bread with braised pork belly, MS Red Hot Duke’s mayo, whole grain mustard, House MS red pepper jelly and fried tobacco onions for $14 with a side.

Kelley said Bin 612 will be serving banana splits and frozen banana daiquiris, while City Bagel will showcase a “Go Bananas” cupcake.

Hobie's on Main owner Hobie Hobart said the bar on Main Street will be having a “tailgate style” meal where guests are invited to bring a dish to share, as well as featuring a banana spilt bar.

Bulldog Burger Company has featured the MacWalk-Off Milkshake, made of fresh bananas and vanilla ice cream topped with whipped cream, cinnamon and banana chips, throughout the week.

Bulldog Burger Company general manager Ian Few said Bulldog BurgerCompany will be serving the shakes while showing the game on Saturday, and will offer a spiked option with RumChata for adults.

Bulldogs in the State’s capitol can enjoy the game with other fans at Capitol Grill in Jackson.

Captiol Grill general manager and executive chef Lance Gammill said the restaurant is home to the Central Mississippi Alumni and will be having drink specials for all of the MSU baseball games during the College World Series.

The MSU Alumni Association will host a pre-game event for Bulldog fans in Omaha.

The pep rally will take place from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday at the Century Link Convention Center Ballroom A, located across from the ballpark at 455 North 10th St. in Omaha, Nebraska.

The doors will open at 1:45 p.m. The event is free, and snack mix and rally banana pudding parfaits and a cash bar will be available while supplies last. Rally towels, MSU rally bananas, hand fans, koozies and stickers will also be available while supplies last.

The event will feature Athletic Director John Cohen and MSU president Mark Keenum. Cowbells will be permitted at the pep rally, but they will not be allowed in the game. TD Ameritrade Park follows the clear bag policy.
