The Greater Starkville Development Partnership's newest concert series, Downtown at Sundown, drew a crowd to Fire Station Park Thursday night for the first concert in the series.

The first concert featured local band HanaLena.

"We are happy the rain held off to hold such a wonderful concert," Partnership Special Events and Projects Coordinator Paige Watson said. "I think all the attendees really enjoyed the concert."

The concert series occurs every third Thursday of each month and spans from May through August. The locations and music genres will change around different parts of Starkville's downtown district.

The June 21 concert will Starkville Community Theatre's Unplugged concert, featuring a mix of musical artists. The July 19 show will be in the Cotton District and the August 16 concert will be outside Rick's Cafe.

"The goal is to keep fun, family-friendly events for families and visitors alike in Starkville, so we hope theses concerts will be fun and enjoyable for all ages," Watson said.

Each event is free and all ages are invited to attend. Food and drink vendors will be setup at each concert, and blankets and chairs are encouraged. No coolers will be allowed.
