A popular downtown business closed its storefront last week to undergo remodeling efforts and plans to show off the interior changes today.

Aspen Bay, located at 116 E. Main Street, had brown paper over its windows facing out onto the street during the renovations, which began March 12.

A representative of the business on Sunday confirmed the store is expected to reopen Monday.

A member of CURiO brands, Aspen Bay - with its downtown retail location next door to the Book Mart - is known for its handcrafted candles and other fragrance-inspired products made in Starkville.

Retail manager Brittany Sims declined to provide further information to the Starkville Daily News about what the renovations will entail, saying “This is just phase one of many phases that our store is going through.”

Sims said there would be more information released as the remodeling work moves forward.

Aspen Bay has operated in Starkville since the early 1990s.
