Starkville's only RadioShack to close

The RadioShack store located across the street from Walmart on Highway 12 is closing down, hosting an "everything must go" sale of up to 60 percent off products.

The sale is storewide, only excluding certain items, according to the banners hanging on the front windows and in the store. Posters and signs are scattered throughout the aisles, displaying sale prices and discounts.

RadioShack media relations has not yet to responded to questions regarding the closing date of the the Starkville location.

RadioShack's corporate office in Fort Worth, Texas, announced on March 8 that the company has once again filed for bankruptcy. The announcement said the company is closing around 200 stores and evaluating options for the remaining 1,300 stores.

The announcement also said RadioShack has improved since emerging from bankruptcy two years ago. It reduced its operating expenses by 23 percent and increased gross profit dollars by eight percent in 2016. However, they filed for bankruptcy again this year.
