Starkville woman accused of child abuse

A Starkville woman arrested Wednesday is accused of abusing a child.

Victoria Jones, 40, was charged by the Starkville Police Department with one felony count of child deprivation of necessaries with substantial harm. She was transported to the Oktibbeha County Jail with bond set at $5,000.

SPD did not release the age of the child or relation to the suspect.

Few details were released Thursday, but more information is expected to be available in court documents on Friday.

Jones appeared in municipal court on Thursday, March 9.

If convicted, Jones could face a maximum fine of up to $10,000 and a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
