Former Starkville High School athlete A.J. Brown may be preparing for the upcoming college football season at Ole Miss, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have baseball on his mind.
On Friday, Brown announced on Twitter that he has signed a professional baseball contract with the San Diego Padres.
The Padres drafted the ex-Yellowjacket in the 19th round last month.
SHS baseball coach Travis Garner is proud to say he has a playing moving on to the pro ranks.
"That's cool and really neat," Garner said. "I'm proud of him. It says a lot about us as a program, says a lot about A.J. and says a lot about what we've accomplished in a short amount of time."
