A boil water notice has been issued by the city of Starkville for Longmeadow, as well as portions of Highway 12 and Louisville Street.

From the city of Starkville website:
"As a precaution, The City of Starkville Utilities Department has issued a boil water notice for the following areas due to a loss of pressure to repair a water line:

Hwy 12 between Eckford Drive and Louisville Street
Louisville Street between Wood Street and Linden Circle
Longmeadow Subdivision

Before consuming water or using it in the preparation of uncooked foods, the water should have been brought to a full boil for a minimum two minutes. Samples will be collected when lines are flushed and sent to the Health Department in Jackson Mississippi for testing. This notice will remain in effect at least until 5PM Monday, August 24th."

Workers were repairing a water line break in-between Backstage Music and R&M Tire on Highway 12 Thursday. The Backstage parking lot was temporarily flooded before the water was shut off.

Starkville High School was temporarily without water, but it has now been restored to the school, according to the school district's social media accounts.
