The Ulysses S. Grant Presidential Library is now showing its new exhibit "The President's Face: Portraits of Ulysses S. Grant and Abraham Lincoln in Context" through April 2016. The Grant Library is located inside of Mitchell Memorial Library, 395 Hardy Rd. on Mississippi State University's campus. The exhibit will also include photographs of President James Garfield.
"It's an incredible study of how photographers and artists dealt with the presidents," said John Marszalek, executive director and managing editor of the MSU based collection. "For example, there are three Lincoln photographs — one of them I've never seen — that shows him from the left side of Lincoln. There's one of Garfield that's just amazing. There's also the Grant photograph that was used to make his portrait. It's a fascinating study not just on art or art technique but also the handing of presidential paintings and photography. Everyone will get something from this exhibit."
