MABEN – With the game tied at 8-8 in the bottom of the eighth inning, Madison Flemmings walked to the plate.
She delivered a single up the middle to score Mamie Hollenhead and the East Webster softball team beat Eupora 9-8 in eight innings in district game.
The Lady Wolverines (11-2) entered the bottom of the seventh inning trailing 5-3. Autumn Frost hit a 2-run home run to tie the game.
The Lady Eagles took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first when Allie Stedman hit a 2-run shot.
The Lady Wolverines answered back with a run in the bottom of the first.
East Webster took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth with two runs, but the Lady Eagles answered back with three runs of their own in the top of the fifth to take a 5-3 lead.
Frost and Bailey Williams each went 3-for-4 at the plate for the Lady Wolverines. Flemmings went 2-for-3.
Hannah McDowell went 3-for-4 for Eupora. Sarah Grace Ward and Hai-leigh Hodges each went 2-for-4.
The Lady Wolverines are back in action Thursday when Columbus comes to town. The game is set for a 4:30 p.m. junior varsity game with varsity to follow. On Saturday, East Webster hosts Noxapater at 1:45 p.m. and Winona at 3 p.m. in the East Webster Tournament.
Eupora is back home on Thursday. The Lady Eagles play Philadelphia with varsity starting at 5 p.m. and junior varsity following.
