Charley Scott

Graveside services for Dr. Charley Scott were held Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012 in Magnolia Memory Gardens with Stephens Funeral Home handling arrangements.

Dr. Scott passed away August 1, 2012 in Pensacola, Fla. Dr. Scott earned his bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State University, served teaching and research roles through the rank of Professor at MSU in the following administrative roles:Dean of the Graduate School, Associate Vice President and Vice President of Academic Affairs and Director of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.

He participated in numerous professional, academic and civic organizations where he held many offices in the area.

He assisted in the planning and construction of the Sanctuary of the First Baptist Church, where he had leading roles in the Sunday School and Training Union programs.
