Mississippi State is gearing up for the 2012 football season and with 13 days remaining before the opening kickoff, the Bulldogs announced the resignation of Angelo Mirando.

Mirando, who served as the MSU receivers coach last season, indicated personal reasons was the cause for his departure from the program.

“I have enjoyed my time at Mississippi State as a graduate assistant and as an assistant coach," Mirando said in an MSU release. "I have made friends that will last a lifetime; however, due to unforeseen personal issues, I believe it is in my best interest to resign from Mississippi State.

"I want to stress that these issues are personal. I look forward to pursuing other opportunities in the future. Finally, I want to thank my friend and mentor Dan Mullen for giving me this chance.”

Mirando came to Mississippi State after working under Mullen as a graduate assistant during Mullen’s time at the University of Florida.

The Bulldogs showcase an experienced group of wide receivers, including Chad Bumphis, Chris Smith, Brandon Heavens and Arceto Clark.

Mullen does not believe Mirando's departure will hurt the progress of the MSU receivers as they move forward.

“We appreciate Angelo and the work he did, and wish him the best in wherever the future takes him,” Mullen said in the release. “We’ll take some time to evaluate what our next steps will be with that staff position, but I’m confident in our veteran group of wide receivers and know they’ll be focused and ready to go Sept. 1.”

Mississippi State kicks off the 2012 season against Jackson State on
Sept. 1.
