Geoffrey Walkup Guyton, lifelong resident of Starkville, died Friday, JulyÂ 27, 2012 following an illness at his home surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2012 at First Baptist Church Chapel in Starkville.
Welch Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Geoff graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering and Master ofÂ Computer Science from Mississippi State University.Â He recently retired from the MSU Extension Service.Â
Geoff grew up and married at Trinity Presbyterian Church, and he and CharlotteÂ attended First Baptist Church in recent years. Geoff was an avid computer enthusiast, fisherman, and gardner.Â As Charlotte's photographs attest, his numerous feeders attracted hundreds ofÂ hummingbirds to the yard every summer.
Geoff is survived by a wife, Charlotte Hester Guyton; stepson, Justin Head (& Evelyn) of Starkville;Â sisters, Lane Guyton Gilbert (&Rick) of Benton, Colleen GuytonÂ Tindoll(Scott) of Saltillo, and Elizabeth H. Guyton of Memphis, Tenn.; nieces and nephews, Cory Gilbert of Lexington, Ky., Emily Gilbert ofÂ Jackson, Megan Tindoll of Saltillo, and David Tindoll of Saltillo.
Geoff is preceded in death by his parents,Â Robert D. & Peggy Guyton of Starkville; brother, Robert Daniel Guyton; and grandparents, Joseph & Mima Guyton ofÂ Kosciusko, and Harvey & Ora Price of Kosciusko.
