The high school coaching carousel took another turn in June with the departure of Trae Embry as Eupora's softball coach.

Embry, a Eupora native, has become the new softball coach at Neshoba Central in Philadelphia.

Even though Embry spent 12 years as the softball coach in his hometown, the opportunity of coaching at a bigger school was big in his mind.

"It was something I wanted to do and maybe coach at a college one day," Embry said. "Hopefully, there's an opportunity there. (Neshoba Central) has had a great program and they won state in 2005-06 in fast pitch and they've got a lot of young talent coming. With them being successful in the past, we've got something to build on."

With Embry's wife being a teacher, she was able to get a job at Neshoba Central also.

After one year as an assistant baseball and football coach at Hatley, Embry began his journey as the softball coach of the Lady Eagles. He won five state championships in Eupora with three fast pitch in 2005, 2006 and 2007, and slow pitch in 2005 and 2007.

The Lady Eagles also had a second-place finish in fast pitch in 2008.

"We had a good run," Embry said.

There has been no indication that Embry has been replaced as of yet at Eupora.

Embry's departure leaves two coaching vacancies at Eupora as Lee Berryhill left as baseball coach to become the softball coach at East Webster.
