WEDDING Cheek-Sullivan

October 16, 2010

Kevin Joseph Sullivan and Anna Lauren Cheek of Dallas, Texas, were united in marriage in the presence of a large gathering of friends and family in Breckenridge, Colo., on July 4, 2010. The lovely late afternoon wedding was held out-of-doors on the mountainside and was officiated by Rev. Dr. Danny Rowland, the bride’s pastor, and Rev. Daniel (Father Dan) Stempora, close family friend of the groom.
Anna is the daughter of Paul and Wanda Cheek of Starkville. She is the granddaughter of the late Vernal and Anna Lillian Hill King of Taylorsville and Paul and Evelyn Bledsoe Cheek of Weslaco, Texas.
Kevin is the son of Joe and Elaine Sullivan of Dallas, Texas. His grandparents are the late James and Mary Sullivan of Chicago, Ill., and Florance and Dora Albracht of Nazareth, Texas.
The bride wore a strapless gown of candlelight silk, designed by Monique Lhuillier, and a fingertip veil. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of blue hydrangeas and white French roses and succulents. The bride’s attendants wore blue dresses inspired by the bridal flower arrangement. All of the wedding flowers were created by close family friend, Cynthia Easterling, of Hattiesburg.
Sherry Rowe, of Starkville and Auburn, Ala., served Anna as maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Penelope Carson, Silke Gloeckner, Jenny Gautier, and Susan Stich, all of Dallas, Texas; and Sarah Sullivan and Rachel Doherty of Chicago, Ill.
Kevin’s brother, Kieran Sullivan of Chicago, served as best man.
Groomsmen were his cousin, Sean Kennevan of Shamong, N. J., and college friends Brad Easterling of Chicago, Ill., Michael Quinn and J.P. Villamizar, both of Houston, Texas and Brady Smith of Encino, Calif. Anna’s brother, Army Cpt. Carter Cheek, was also a groomsman.
Ushers were Kevin’s college friends, Kyle Adams, David Frost, Randy Miles, and Derek Rosales.
Flower girl and ring bearers were Grace, John Michael, and Luke Kennevan of Shamong, N.J.
A string orchestra provided the wedding music. Ceremony readings were given by Gary King of Raleigh, uncle of the bride; Blair Norman, Anna’s college friend; and Sarah Doherty, David Doherty, and Shannon Kennevan, cousins of the groom.
The mountainside reception was held at the lodge at Ten Mile Station where guests were entertained with wonderful food, dancing, and a fabulous view of the Breckenridge fireworks display in the evening.

Showers and celebrations

An April shower honoring the couple was held in Starkville in the beautiful garden of hostess Nancy Wax and was attended by a large number of friends.
Other hostesses for the event were Sylvia Byrd, Connie Templeton, Jane Davidson, and Margaret Bateman.
The newly-wed couple was also presented to Kevin’s family in complete wedding attire at the Albracht Family Reunion in Nazareth, Texas, on July 31, 2010. According to family tradition, Kevin was required to wheel Anna up the hill in a wheelbarrow, accompanied by a large parade of merrymakers. The parade continued into the Community Hall where a dinner and dance were held.
This entertaining event was also attended by Anna’s parents, Paul and Wanda Cheek.
Following a honeymoon to Moorea and Bora Bora, Anna and Kevin are residing in Dallas, Texas, where she is a landscape architect and he is national corporate sales manager for Southwest Airlines.
